The Good
I’m obsessed with the renewable energy revolution. It is unfolding in real time and I’m determined to have a front row seat. Learning about it is what really makes me happy. The more I connect the dots, the hungrier I am to know more. So I’m reading, listening and searching for information.
It’s damn near impossible not to trip over performative headlines today. It is not only wasting my time, the news of the undoing of all things environmental is messing with my psyche. I can be sipping a perfect cup of coffee, enjoying a heavenly view, and find myself anxious and even angry because I’ve digested the latest provocation. I swing from feeling positive to having my cortisol levels shoot up like I just got into a brawl.
I’m mindful that both broadcast media and social media monetize my attention. So attention grabbing headlines and especially infuriating posts that pull me in or rile me up are designed to steal my time and attention. The algorithms have figured me out.
I won’t be pulled into fruitless worrying about headlines. I am curating my news from trustworthy sources so it is informative! I’m not saying the headlines don’t creep in and get me spinning, but when I look through my feeds and learn, absorb and reflect, I find that there are many good things happening. I’m going to focus on “the Good.”
I will share tidbits that bring me joy. I’ll share the links so you can read the stories in their entirety. I hope it will keep you feeling optimistic and engaged in the fight against disruptive climate change. I think you will come to love the thoughtful writing and data from these sources.
