When Kiki first came to me and asked me to work on Empowered: Energy Heroes I said yes immediately, the opportunity to work on a documentary project about “the good news” was extremely exciting. What I didn’t anticipate was how much good news there really is to learn - THERE IS SO MUCH GOOD NEWS!! There are so many problems, but the are also so many solutions and so many amazing, brilliant people who have been working on these solutions for years. Over the past two years, because of everything I’ve learned while working on Empowered: Energy Heroes, my family has completely transformed our home. We’ve installed solar, a powerwall, a heat pump (to replace our very expensive gas furnace), and my husband and I both now drive electric cars… I seriously hope I never have to go to a gas station again as long as I live! These improvements didn’t cost much if you compare to what we used to pay to PG&E every month, and working on Empowered: Energy Heroes really showed us how easy it is to make changes that will ultimately save us money and simultaneously help save the planet. I’m so proud to have worked on this important series and to help get this information out to everyone. My biggest takeaway: none of this is hard to do, and it’s all good for all of us!
