JENNIFER DALOISIO
CEO, Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC)
Jennifer is the CEO of MassCEC, an example of great policy at work. It is a “quasi-state agency that was created to grow the clean energy industry in Massachusetts” through connecting industry players, funding infrastructure projects like the Wind Technology Testing Center, creating workforce opportunities and training programs, and funding innovation, technology development, and startups like Heila.
“We also support kids as they grow through their education. So we have high school education programs where we support job training and get kids college credit for the work that they're doing.”
MassCEC is funded by a tiny fee on ratepayers’ monthly bills, which comes back to them exponentially. They support the community by installing solar panels on homes, installing clean heating and cooling devices, and supporting the offshore wind industry which will help bring down electricity costs for the entire region.
“Because Massachusetts is at the end of the natural gas pipeline we often pay the highest costs for energy and electricity in the state, in the country.”
MassCEC is critical to our wind story. It is a part of a larger story about the state of Massachusetts and is directly connected to Pat Haddad’s legislation.
